Seeding is recommended for early spring or in mid fall for best results. The cooler wet weather in the spring is a great time to get a new lawn off to a good start or give your established lawn some thickening up with an over seed application. A thick healthy lawn always stands a better chance of keeping weeds and disease from taking hold. Testing the soil to insure the proper amount and correct blend of fertilizer is the first step towards a successful seeding. Correcting and preventing erosion problems is another very important detail that we will not overlook. Proper seed for sun, shade, high traffic and other specific places in the landscape is very important for complete and proper ground cover. Keeping new lawn seed from pests, birds, erosion and keeping the seed and soil from drying out with straw or a burlap product will increase the seed germination process. It is very important to cut the lawn sooner rather then later. Keeping the lawn trimmed to the proper height (normally around 2 1/2" to 3" ) helps new lawns grow thick and the roots grow deep and strong.
